Call your doctor if you have the following symptoms, either alone or in combination. These symptoms are part of the COVID-19 syndrome:
- Fever
- Cough
- Difficulty breathing
- Sore throat
There are also emergency warning signs for COVID-19 that you should know and which require immediate medical attention.
- Increasing difficulty in breathing and shortness of breath
- Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
- New confusion or inability to arouse
- Bluish lips or face
This list from the CDC is not all-inclusive. Only a medical provider can answer questions about whether symptoms are of COVID-19 or another disease process.
The important thing to remember is to call for medical help if you have symptoms that are like the ones listed.
Its also important to let all your caregivers, medical staff, and first responders know if you are having these symptoms.
Some doctor’s offices and hospitals have special procedures for check-in or a special waiting area. We must also protect the health care staff against infection with the virus.
